6/22/2008 Yellowfin and More Yellowfin
2008-06-22
We are turning all attention to tuna right now with the fantastic yellowfin bite going on within 2 hours of our dock in Cape May right now. We will be going this week as many times as the weather allows and the good water that is holding the tuna stays around as it can move or blend in with the inshore water and lose the hard edge that is presently out in the Wilmington. The 71-72 cold water is holding the tuna and the 75 degree hot water is billfish country with very little tuna action on the hot side of hard edge. We will try to make the costs as fair as possible for these early season tuna trips and plan to continue to cruise at our normal 30 knts when runnning true canyon day trips off Cape May, NJ and keep the running time to around 2 hours as long as the weather allows us to run hard. Check with us for special early season tuna rates for both day troll and overnight trips. There are very few charter boats in NJ that can equal the ride and speed of our new boat period. With the new Cat diesels that we were supplied to us this past winter it is a absolute rocket ship with a honest cruise at 28-30 knots and a hard cruise at 35 knots if we are in a hurry to get a location. Even in honest four foot seas you can sleep in the bunks and will never feel any pounding even at speeds approaching 30 knots. More important there is currently the best early season tuna bite thatI have ever seen in over 25 years happeing right now in our local canyons. Oh yes we now are seeing bluefin up to over 50 lbs being boated inshore less than an our from our dock so it is all happening right now down off Cape May. On yesterday shark trip we had bluefish spitting up massive amounts of sand eels around a 30 fathom lump 55 miles SE of cape May where we have slammed 150 lb plus bluefin in past years so we expect to see the bigger bluefin show up there any day now as the food chain that attracts the bigger buefin is now in place. WE WELCOME SINGLES AND SMALL PARTIES FOR MAKE-UP TRIP ALONG WITH REGULAR 6 PERSON CHARTERS.
